Ian has been involved in television for fifteen years since attending Wide Angle Film and Video workshops in Birmingham. Previously he had been working as an Architectural Technician at Bradshaw Rowse and Harker, Architects based in Liverpool.
He commenced employment at Yorkshire Television in 1989 starting in the postroom and gaining experience on local news programme Calendar and the late night live series The James Whale Radio Show.
Joined post production as a cap gen operator and soon moved on to assistant editor and rostrum cameraman. Worked on major series such as First Tuesday, Darling Buds of May, Heartbeat, Touch of Frost and Network First. Gained valuable experience from some talented editors.
Trained on Avid Media Composer, Ian became responsible for editing all Yorkshire and Tyne Tees on screen promotions. As well as on-lining 3D documentary inserts and other one off projects.
Joined Picardy Television in Edinburgh back in 1994. Started to build up a solid client base. Editing programmes from Songs of Praise and Panorama to series such as Edinburgh or Bust, Cancer Stories and Prison Officer.
Moved to Waterside Television in 2001 to head up Broadcast facilities. Completed projects include 6 x Songs of Praise, 6 part series Chancers and the Scottish Assembly for Tern Television; Big Day, an eight part BBC series, and a 60 minute documentary for Channel 5 with George Cathro of Hand Pict, Around Scotland series for BBC Education, Edinburgh or Bust and a Comedy Lab for Angel Eye and Channel 4, Artworks for BBC Scotland.
Joined Arc Facilities Edinburgh September 2003. Worked on the MTV Europe Awards 2003, completed the first of a thirteen part series Shoebox Zoo a childrens drama, Panorama Crack UK for BBC 1 and an eight part series Map Man for BBC2.
